Ski Portland!

27 12 2010

Absolutely stunning views.

I’ve recently been skiing at Timberline in the Mt. Hood National Forest.  It’s just slightly over an hour away from Portland and I just have to rave about it, it is awesomeness.  The staff is incredibly friendly, the rental gear is all Atomic and practically new.  The runs are diverse, fun, well groomed, and I’ve found the lift waits to be practically nonexistent.  Hell, even the food at the lodge was good! (but far from cheap)

It truly is at the timberline too, which makes for some outrageously fantastic views when it’s not snowing.  I encourage you to click on the images here and get an up-close look at some shots of Mt. Jefferson in the distance.

So get some chains for you tires, an Oregon Snow Park permit, and have have a blast.

The start of the day, the sun was just coming out.

An afternoon view, as high up as you could go on the lifts that day. See Mt. Jefferson?

The uppermost lift was closed (you can see the lift disappear into the clouds), but you could get up there by snowcat.

A view from the lift ride up, The top of Mt. Hood briefly peeks out of the clouds.
